Teaching is at the core of who I am as an academic.  My teaching informs my research, and my research strengthens my teaching.  In all of my courses I try to help students understand the process of knowledge creation and to help students tap into their own curiosity about how the world works.  Outside of the classroom I involve students in research projects, which I believe is the best way to help students learn and apply classroom lessons.  I focus on student writing and argumentation to help them to build skills that are important not only for further study and careers in political science, but in the general labor market as well.
